Description The Repose ProForm Porter Chair is a very versatile porter chair, designed around Huntington’s but equally excellent as a porter chair for the frail and elderly. The focus of the research and engineering for the ProForm Porter healthcare chair has been to create a feeling of comfort, safety and security. From the high arm design and backrest recline, to the seat depth and angle adjustments; each element is tailored to support conditions associated with severe or involuntary movement. The ProForm Porter comes as standard with: A choice of 2 adjustable and interchangeable postural support back cushions A choice of 3 removable and interchangeable pressure management seat cushions Independent backrest recline allowing optimal support and comfort A sliding footplate for safety while the person is being portered Seat depth and angle adjustment to accommodate a wider range of clients and reduce the risk of falling. The seat and back cushions are all removable, interchangeable, and replaceable, each with different postural and pressure management qualities. Being able to remove and interchange these cushions ensures that the chair is adaptable over time for changing conditions or new users, giving greater longevity of usage. The ProForm Porter has a very wide spectrum of users including those with life limiting conditions, ataxic movements and aching joints, where any movement is painful. However, it is also very competent as a general porter chair at home or in any health environment. Repose ProForm Porter Chair Specifications Certain pressure management seat cushion options have their own overall weight limits, details of which can be found in the Seat Cushion Tab. The maximum leg rest weight limit is unaffected by the seat cushion. Depending on the seat cushion built into the chair, the seat height* may vary from that shown above. Key Features The ProForm Porter healthcare chair is a highly engineered and robust porter chair, at the heart of which is comfort and safety. It comes with the following key features as standard. Optional accessories are available and are detailed in the Optional Accessories Tab. Mechanisms The manual mechanism allows for an independent backrest recline. Operate it by using the lever on the push handle. The back reclines into a range of positions to meet individual postural needs, and the position locks when you release the lever. It allows for an angle range of 95º to 120º. For further details on this mechanism, visit the Mechanisms Tab. Pressure Management Back Cushions There is a choice of two interchangeable and adjustable pressure management back cushions, enabling the chair to adapt to a single person’s changing needs or to alter the chair for someone else. This ensures greater longevity of its usage. In addition, all cushions can be repositioned to suit a person’s individual seating preferences. Add or remove fibres from the fibre filled cushions to adjust their firmness. Covers are removable for cleaning or replacement. See Back Cushions Tab for details on the individual cushions. Pressure Management Seat Cushions There is a choice of three interchangeable seat cushions each with different pressure management features. You can purchase one or more cushions to support the different needs of individuals who may use this chair. Cushions and covers are removable for cleaning or replacement. With all these seat cushions we recommend a fabric with four way stretch properties to aid reduction of shear and friction. See Seat Cushions Tab for details of the individual cushions. Seat Angle Adjustment With an angle range of 15˚ degrees the tilting seat can help to reduce the risk of an individual falling from the chair due to severe involuntary movements as well as allowing for different levels of comfort and postural control. Seat angle range 0º – 15º Seat Depth Adjustment The ProForm Porter comes with a mechanism to adjust the seat depth. The Seat depth range is 432mm – 533mm (17-21″) The seat depth should be long enough to support the upper part of the legs whilst allowing the back to rest comfortably on the backrest. If the seat is too long the user is likely to slouch in the chair to get their feet on the floor, which puts extra pressure on their lower spine, if too short it will cause additional pressure on the thighs risking potential skin breakdown. Sliding Footplate The sliding footplate enables a person to place their feet safely on the footplate while moving around. Slide it back in for unobstructed hoist access. The footplate has a central castor to maximise stability. The cover is removable for cleaning or replacement. Heavy-duty push handle For ease of movement the ProForm Porter comes with a heavy-duty push handle with rubber grips. Castors The ProForm Porter comes with four heavy-duty lockable castors built in as standard. There is the option to upgrade these to directional castors. D-Rings D-rings come as standard.
